WELCOME TO
OUR LIFE IN OTTAWA

En route from the metropolitan delights of Montreal to the concrete jungle of Toronto lies the National Capital Region. A region where lies the city of Ottawa, a place we call home.

Ottawa is Canada’s fourth largest city with over 1.2 million residents and is the second largest technology hub in North America. First place goes to Silicon Valley, CA.

Years ago, Richard's home was far away from Ottawa.

Upon finishing a demanding IT contract in the Himalayan regions of Nepal, our adventurous globetrotter decided to venture back to England to finish his training with the British SAS, one of the world's premier special forces teams.  Upon completion of his degree in counter-terrorism, Richard was deployed to Africa with the Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR) of the British Army.  After one year of service and a slight loss of hearing from a 'close call', Richard was transferred to the International Committee for Commonwealth Security where he was introduced to CSIS representatives at a conference in Ecuador.

CSIS members were impressed, recruited Richard, and assigned him to the Department of Foreign Affairs where he was stationed in Paraguay, South America for a number of demanding reconnaissance missions.  Years passed and Richard grew tired of the continual attempts on his life from the drug cartels.  In an act of self-preservation, Richard boarded a cargo ship loaded with Tonka trucks, Slinkys, and Sea-Monkeys, and for six weeks was kept un-noticed by the Bolivian crew until the boat reached its destination . . . Montréal, Canada.

Tired and weak, Richard make his way to the south shores of Montréal and was taken in by a friendly Caribbean couple who learned to love him as their son.  Years passed, and Richard enjoyed the fruits of his new life.  He completed a degree in Economics at the local University, and was soon speaking the incompressible language of 'Fran-Glais'.  Unbeknownst to Richard, he soon became a true Québécois.

Growing tired of 'Star-Académie' reruns on television, Richard chose to move forward and leave the land of Ginette Reno.  With the intention of not straying far from his new family, he took a sales position at a high tech firm in Otttawa.  Time passed, and our famed friend grew lonely.  As a result, Richard decided to begin taking salsa lessons at a new private club for former CSIS and SAS members in the Ottawa region.  After noticing only men showed up at the club, Richard decided to leave once the manager of the club locked the front doors and dimmed the lights. Thankfully, the rear entry was open.

It wasn't until a cold winter evening in January, where Richard met the love of his life at an international ballroom dancing event attended by socialites and dignitaries.

The number '22' was clearly marked on the back of Brigitte's sequenced red dress.  She stood tall in high heels and was poised on the dance floor to take the crown with her partner Pedro.  Once the music started and she began to move on the dance floor, the crowd erupted into a frenzy.  She was an undeniable force of nature to be reckoned with, and the judges knew it.  The competition ended with Brigitte and Pedro in first place and a chance to compete at the World Finals in Paraguay.  There was no way I was going to let the woman of my dreams travel to the country which I left years ago with my life in my hands.

To be continued . . .
